Facebook, Data Science and Valentine’s Day

Valentine Heart Data

Today is February 14th, also known as Valentine’s Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, depending on where you are in the world.  In some places, it’s a holiday.  The day was first associated with romantic connotations thanks to Chaucer’s poetry in the 14th century. Today, in the U.S. and many other countries, it’s a day of cards, gifts, flowers, chocolate, and more.

This week, Facebook’s Data Science page has been running a series of blog posts about Valentine’s Day and the data related to it. Here are links to the posts they have done so far:

February 10th:  Love and Religion

Feb 11th: The Age of Love

Feb 12th: Flings or Lifetimes? The Duration of Facebook Relationships

Feb 13th: Looking for Love by City
